Biography

Raul, a native Texan, began his political career with an elected position on the Austin City Council in 2000. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University. In pursuit of continuing his higher education, Raul moved to Austin to earn a Master of Science in Regional Community Planning from The University of Texas at Austin.

Raul served two terms on the Austin City Council (2000-2006). While on the City Council, Raul's priorities included public safety, affordable housing, small business development, and the preservation of Austin's neighborhoods and environment. In May 2008, Raul was elected to a position on the ACC Board of Trustees. Raul currently works as the Grassroots Community Coordinator for the AISD Office of Redesign.
