RAUL ALVAREZ MAKES ELECTION BID FOR TRAVIS COUNTY COMMISSIONER PRECINCT 4
(AUSTIN) — Raul Alvarez today filed his paperwork to run for election to the Travis County Precinct 4 seat.
"Today is the day I will be filing, and I want the opportunity to show the constituents of precinct 4 that I am ready to work on the major challenges facing precinct 4," Alvarez said. "I am running a grassroots campaign to win the community's support so we can have new leadership that is a voice for the people of precinct 4. The goal is to ensure accountability and responsibility for the constituents of this precinct."
Mr. Alvarez was a former City Council member from 2000 to 2006. He quickly earned a reputation for hard work and diligence on a wide range of issues that concerned his constituents in the city of Austin.
Alvarez has served one year as a City Council representative on the board of the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Also, was appointed on the Electric Utility Commission by City Council Member Mike Martinez in 2006. Currently, Alvarez is Place 5 Trustee for the Austin Community College District.
Alvarez earned her bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University and his master's in Community & Regional Planning at the University of Texas
Mr. Alvarez and his wife, Austin Banker Theresa Alvarez, have two children, who are Sofia and Joseph.
