RAUL ALVAREZ ENDORSED BY THE AUSTIN FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION

(AUSTIN) — Raul Alvarez has received the endorsement of the Austin Firefighters Association. He is also proud to receive the support of the African American Firefighters Association and the Hispanic Firefighters Association.

"Its an honor to be endorsed by the Austin Firefighters Association. I have been a strong advocate for the Firefighters in the past when I was on the city council," Alvarez said. "I will remain a strong voice for the firefighters as long as I'm in public office."

Mr. Alvarez served two terms on the City Council from 2000 to 2006.  He quickly earned a reputation for hard work and diligence on a wide range of issues.

Alvarez also served one year as a City Council representative to the board of the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority.  He was also appointed to the Electric Utility Commission by City Council Member Mike Martinez in 2006. Currently, Alvarez is Place 5 Trustee for the Austin Community College's Board.

Alvarez earned his bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University and his master's in Community & Regional Planning at the University of Texas

Mr. Alvarez and his wife, Austin Banker Theresa Alvarez, have two children, Sofia and Joseph.
