RAUL ALVAREZ ENDORSED BY ELEVEN ADDITIONAL GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS
(AUSTIN) – Raul Alvarez is proud to announce that his candidacy has received the endorsement of the Austin Sierra Club, Amalgamated Transit Union 1091, Texas Hispanic Police Officers, Texas Hispanic Firefighters, Capital City Young Democrats, Texas Environmental Democrats, Northeast Travis County Democrats, Capital Area Asian American Democrats, Austin Tejano Democrats, Austin Lesbian/Gay Political Caucus and Stonewall Democrats.
Raul Alvarez garnered five Democratic Club endorsements at the mega endorsement event hosted last week by the Travis County Democratic Party. The incumbent, Margaret Gomez, received only one.
"The momentum for Alvarez and his vision for Precinct 4 continues to grow," says campaign manager, Billy Stallings. "Alvarez's broad base and appeal is evident in the diversity of his endorsements, young Democrats, Tejanos, public safety groups, environmentalists, union members, gays and lesbians, and others."
Mr. Alvarez adds, "It's wonderful to be endorsed by so many clubs and organizations, who know my commitment to public service and leadership.I am working hard to make sure our grassroots campaign contacts every voter in Precinct 4."
Alvarez served on the City Council from 2000 to 2006, where he quickly earned a reputation for hard work and diligence on a wide range of issues that concerned his constituents in the City of Austin
Additionally, Alvarez has served one year as a City Council representative on the board of the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and he, was appointed to the Electric Utility Commission by City Council Member Mike Martinez in 2006. Currently, Alvarez is Place 5 Trustee for the Austin Community College District.
Alvarez earned his bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University and his master's in Community & Regional Planning at the University of Texas.
